Done with North Carolina

North Carolina, land of snow and porch yelling old men (this will really happen when you hike down to the Greasy Creek Hostel), is behind us. After hiking along the NC-TN border since the start of the Smokies, we are finally in just TN for about 5 more days until we cross into long Virginia, home to about a quarter of the trail.

We are both feeling healthy, but Tyler still avoids unnecessary contact with questionable surfaces (and people) to dodge the sickness. The worst of the plague seems over. We recently hiked through some gorgeous spruce forests on Unaka and Roan mountains and over a series of wide and windy balds. Last night we camped at an old barn turned shelter with a horde of surprisingly quiet Boy Scouts.

Right now we are sitting at Bobs Dairyland in Roan Mountain, TN after eating a massive 3 patty, onion ring, chili cheeseburger and 40 oz. milkshakes (pistachio, of course). After buying food across the street, we'll be back on our way.

I now have the ability to upload more photos, but I'm having some difficulty still. Hopefully I'll have the time to figure this out in Damascus.
